Abstract: The gas holdup, axial solid concentration distribution and particle size distribution in a slurry bubble column reactor were investigated experimentally by using air as the gas phase, tap water as the liquid phase, and quartz sands as the solid phase. The effects of superficial gas velocity, average solid concentration and axial location were discussed. A correlation formula between gas holdup and operating parameters has been obtained.
